The Role

Currently, we are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Scientist to join our multifunctional team that is responsible for the genetic toxicology screening services at Gentronix, as well as our skin and ocular toxicology services.

As a Scientist in a multifunctional team, your role will be to work closely with the relevant Study Directors to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all aspects of the non-GLP screening and GLP contract testing services. This involves reviewing study plans and performing in vitro and ex vivo studies in accordance with established protocols to agreed schedules and as directed by the Study Directors, in compliance with the principles of GLP when required. In addition, you’ll be responsible for documenting and communicating any deviations to study plans or standard operating procedures to the Study Director. You will collect and record data in a timely and accurate fashion, and in accordance with GLP principles when required. You will take responsibility for the quality of data generated, and to contribute to the authorship of screening study reports. Your key duties will also require you to perform all work in accordance with H&S requirements; to minimise the risk to yourself and others, whilst maintaining the integrity of studies.

What you will be doing

Specifically, you will:

  • Conduct and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all aspects of the non-GLP screening and GLP contract testing services using in vitro and ex vivo test methods.
  • Ensure precise preparation and dispensing of reagents for accurate assay results.
  • Monitor the screening processes, resolving any technical issues to guarantee consistent assay performance.
  • Initiate and maintain various suspension and adherent cell lines (cell culture).
  • Analyse data derived from screening.
  • Document all screening procedures and outcomes meticulously.
  • Accurately process large datasets generated from multiple non-GLP and GLP assays.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and lab protocols diligently for experiment consistency and reliability.
  • Review SOPs and protocols as required to incorporate new methods and technologies.
  • Diligently prepare comprehensive screening reports for clients.
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines, including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), to uphold data integrity and reliability.
  • Prepare high-quality study file paperwork and maintain accurate record keeping as mandated by GLP.
  • Collaborate closely with the relevant Study Director and team to ensure efficient work performance and reporting, managing your time across multiple tasks when necessary.
  • Acquire, retain, and apply knowledge of GLP principles.

About you

To join us as a Scientist, you will need:

  • Experience of working in a life sciences laboratory environment and a life sciences degree or equivalent qualifications and experience
  • Ideally, to have prior knowledge and experience of the principles of GLP or other laboratory standards
  • Experience in cell culture and in vitro assays
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and a strong team player
  • To be proactive and able to prioritise and manage workloads effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • To be IT literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You may have previously held the title of Laboratory Scientist, Senior Technician, Associate Scientist or Research Scientist.
